Overview and Description
Developed over ten years
ago as better splinting material, today OSi®
technology is used in hospitals around the world to quickly set
and protect broken bones. The developers, after seeing thousands
of sports-related injuries, set about adapting this process to help
prevent them. The result is a line of protective gear that's lightweight,
low profile and provides superior impact dispersion. By custom fitting
to the player, OSi®
guards disperse impact over their entire area.
A
simple one-time process creates a rigid, padded, protective device
that is lightweight, breathable and custom fit for the athlete.
OSi® pads come in 18 pre-cut shapes and sizes, that will suit
almost every body part, which needs the protection of a form, fit
pad.
This patented OSi® fiberglass technology custom molds to the
body, forming a rigid shield which provides maximum impact dispersion.
OSi® pads consist of a micro-perfed EVA foam layer that provides
an extra measure of protection, as well as superior comfort and
breathability.
With OSi's® custom fit technology, the athlete may return to
the field. Just rip open the package, wet with any liquid and in
five minutes the athlete is ready to return to competition. After
the pad has been formed, it is washable and durable enough to provide
protection for an entire season.

Use and Procedure

Set-Up: |

Assess the area that needs to be protected or splinted and
determine which pad needs to be used. |

Tear open the air-tight package. |
|
Choose
the method in which you will start the curing process.
Water
bottle, Gatorade, or Sweat for Athletes body (Water is the
recommend method)

Wrap
the pad in place and wait five minutes
|
After
five minutes the pad will have reached a firmness that allows
the athlete to return to competition
|

Are
these OSi®
pads remoldable? |

No they
are not. These pads are custom formed to each athlete. They
are priced affordably so you do not need to reuse them. Also,
each athlete is different and requires his or her own pad.

Will
my athletes get burned during the reaction that takes place? |

There
will be some heat that is given off, but not enough to cause
any burning. A good idea is to cover the area being padded
with an ace wrap or tubular bandage.

Can
the pads be removed from the sealed packaging and not formed?

No. Only
remove the pad when you are ready to form it. The pads will
react to moisture in the air and harden. Once they begin to
harden or have hardened, they cannot be reused.

Does
this pad meet the NCAA standard for rigid protective devices? |

Yes. Many
high school associations will require additional padding over
OSi material. Please consult your state and local association
for specifics.
