Introduction
Welch Allyn's MicroTymp 2 tympanometry instrument produces an accurate, objective measurement of middle ear status. It helps detect otitis media, perforated tympanic membrane, patent tympanostomy tube, ossicular disruption, tympanosclerosis, and cholesteatoma

Product Overview and Description
Diagnosing chronic otitis media is often a difficult task. Sometimes the fluid is visible, often it isn't. The delivery of sound and air pressure to the ear, precisely measured by advanced microelectronic components like those used in the Welch Allyn MicroTymp 2, brings otitis media into sharp focus. You can expect the most efficient and complete data from this portable tympanometric instrument. This next generation in tympanometry provides a one second analysis of middle ear function and a five second printout. In addition to speed, the MicroTymp 2 offers increased ease of operation, increased data and a high capacity battery for extended use on a single charge.

Middle ear infection and other pathologies produce abnormal tympanograms that are clearly visible on both the MicroTymp 2 LCD screen and printout. Foreground and background contrast on its supertwist green LCD screen make it easy to see at any angle. Word-prompts on the unit direct the operator, facilitating testing. Asterisks alert the operator to gradient/width abnormalities. The MicroTymp 2 has an auto erase feature, which means you don't have to waste time erasing memory. Erasure is accomplished automatically as you store the next test. This technologically advanced instrument is ideal for the office practice, the clinic, and mass screenings.

The MicroTymp 2 printer provides complete documentation of middle ear function. Three forms of information can be selected in the following formats: tympanogram, tympanogram plus data, and tympanogram plus data and interpretation. The tympanograms print middle ear function measurements side-by-side and left to right for quick comparisons. Multiple copies can be produced for parent consultation or referral. As with the screen on the handle, the printout also uses asterisks to alert the operator of abnormalities.

Product Use and Procedure
1. Press the test button, then insert the probe tip into the ear. It is important to examine the patient's ear canal for size prior to selecting a tip. Also, make sure you select a tip large enough to create a seal at the entrance of the canal.
2. For a young child the pinna should be pulled back and down. For Adults, the pinna should be pulled up for proper technique..
3. Watch the MicroTymp 2 LCD screen as it completes a tympanogram in as little as one second. The quickness is ideal for the uncooperative patient.
4. Return the MicroTymp 2 handle to the Printer/Charger and push "Print". A printout quietly appears in five seconds.
5. To view entire use and procedure of the MicroTymp, click here to visit the Welch Allyn website and review the operation manual.
