Evoluent Mouse Manager
Powerful but easy to use driver is an optional but powerful software that may be installed to configure the buttons to perform many common functions. For example, button 2 may be configured to perform a double click with a single actual click to open a program, button 3 may be configured to open a link in a new tab, button 4 may be configured to cycle through open tabs, button 5 may be configured to close a tab, etc. This reduces the need to frequently move your hand between the mouse and the keyboard, and the need to move the mouse and click different areas of the screen.

The buttons may be configured to perform different functions in different programs. For example, button 2 may be configured as double click for the desktop to open programs and files, and configured as Ctrl + click in Internet Explorer to open links on a new tab instead of the same tab by default. The possibilities are endless! See Product Use tab for list of programmable functions.

great alternative to traditional mouse
Review by
Physical therapist recommended vertical mouse due to hand injury. Having used a traditional mouse for over 30 years, there was a learning curve of about a week. initially had to think about what my fingers were doing but now it is second nature. Can control speed and sensitivity, it is as lightweight as a traditional mouse. Box contains mouse, battery that took less than a minute to install, and the USB. You can install driver but I haven't seen a need to do this yet. I timed this, and from opening box to using, it took 8 minutes. I keep the mouse near the edge of the desk for best comfort, otherwise I will get a good mouse pad for my wrist.

touchy

Brought one home from work because it was being thrown away. Almost imposable to use. The buttons click so easily just trying to move the cursor results in inadvertent clicks. The scroll wheel is so low touching it results in more button clicks. Tossed it in my parts drawer for emergency use only.

Why is it that even after all these years computer makers don't offer left hand versions of these mice so that i can use my right hand to write stuff down when I need too?

Pricey, but well worth it.

I do CAD design work for a living, and spend a LOT of time on a computer. When my right shoulder started getting "tweaky", I learned to mouse with my left hand. When that shoulder started acting up, I discovered the EvoMouse. I bought one for each hand and I switch between them periodically; this solved my problems and probably prevented my developing a serious case of RMI.
They take a little getting used to, but they make a big difference in the long run.
