The Generic EpiPen auto-injector is a self-injection system that can provide a rapid, convenient dose of epinephrine for individuals needing protection from potentially fatal allergic reactions.

The Generic EpiPen offers the same protection at a fraction of the price of name brands. Upon administration of the auto injector, the Generic EpiPen works immediately to constrict blood vessels and increase blood pressure, relaxes smooth muscles in the lungs to reduce wheezing and improve breathing, stimulates the heart (increases heart rate) and reduces hives and swelling that may occur around the face and lips when an allergic reaction occurs.

According to National Food Allergy Guidelines, epinephrine is the only recommended first-line treatment for anaphylaxis. The Generic Epipen should be used for life-threatening severe allergic reactions. Antihistamines do not relieve shortness of breath, wheezing, gastrointestinal symptoms or shock. Therefore, antihistamines should not be a substitute for epinephrine or shock.
