What can Reader 2 do?

Text to speech

Read printed text aloud with a high-quality natural sounding voice. Listen to pronunciations or help with reading in general. Capture larger amounts of text that the pen reads while following along in the book visually. A light turns on when scanning as a guide for text being scanned.

OCR Engine

Contains a high accuracy, multi-language, AI-based OCR that enables electronic note capture. Scan and save text instantly. Text can be saved in the pen and is easily transferred to your computer via USB (as a text file). Scan a word, sentence, paragraph, or even a full page. Can even be used on text that has been highlighted with a yellow, pink, or orange highlighter.

Dictionary

Contains high quality electronic dictionary to provide word definition and pronunciation. It also keeps a history of words that have looked up.

Voice memos

Built-in microphone allows user to record audio, like voice memos. Audio files are saved in the Reader 2 and can also be uploaded to a computer.

USB Drive

Doubles as a USB drive to store a backup of scanned text or other important files. Connect it to a USB port MAC, Windows, or Linux computer (no special or additional software required).

Testimonials
Testimonials "C-Pens are amazing! In the world of AT, this is a tool everyone needs. Within minutes students and teachers are using the pens to read worksheets, vocabulary words, bus schedules and even cake mix boxes. My students love the fact that the pen is small and doesn't make them look different. Thanks for making such as great tool."
    — K. White, Assistive Technology Specialist, Wisconsin

"The C-Pen has been a fabulous help. I recently was diagnosed with dyslexia and I am entering graduate school this fall and I know the C-Pen will come in very handy. I believe the C-Pen is a quality product. I spent a few months researching the different products on the market and it was the camera scanner that sold me."

Did You Know
Did You Know We rely heavily on our senses to process information when learning and engaging more than one sense can help information processing. Using multiple senses allows more cognitive connections and associations to be made with a concept. A simple advantage of multisensory training is that it can engage individuals with different learning styles.

Sound plays a crucial role for everyone in the learning path but particularly for auditory learners. It helps people understand better and provides another layer of comprehension that sight alone can’t offer. People generally remember 10% of what they read, 20% of what they hear, 30% of what they see, and 50% of what they see and hear.

One of the biggest benefits of a reading pen is providing a student with independence while working. No longer would he have to wonder what a word is, skip over it, or ask someone. The reading pen can enable a student with a specific learning disability in reading to read required texts fairly easily, helping the student to read at a more fluent rate, rather than struggling to read.

Reading pens are particularly useful for older students who prefer to work independently, but are still working on learning basic reading skills. A reading pen allows the student to work with grade-level books in science, math, history, and literature because it reads those difficult words to him/her. This can also help avoid getting behind in all subject areas due to a disability in one subject area.

The ReaderPen is also very convenient; it can be taken anywhere to read just about anything that is printed in a typical reading font, providing access to reading materials at home, school and on the job.
