Essential Sight Words Reading Program

The program incorporates research-based strategies throughout its easy-to-use system, and is is an effective teaching method for a wide variety of student populations, including struggling readers, students with learning differences, and English language learners of all ages.

200 words at the core of the program represent the most frequently-used words in the English language according to both the Kucera and Francis word list and the Harris-Jacobsen Short Readability Word List.

The program is divided into two levels that teach 100 words each. Level 1 is intended for struggling readers of any age. Level 2 builds on Level 1.

Instructional activities are designed to give students varied and repeated practice in identifying, understanding, reading, and writing each word. The books use carefully controlled vocabulary and realistic illustrations to help struggling learners read successfully and fluently.

The instructional process involves 5 easy steps:

1. Pretest
2. Instruction through guided worksheets
3. Mastery test
4. Successful reading with books
5. Posttest

Level 1
Kit includes Teacher Instructions and 326 Activity Sheets, 10 Pre/Posttest Strips, 100 Mastery Tests, Tachistoscope, 20 Books (each with 16-44) pages, and 50 Student Record Forms, all in a sturdy box.
Additional books set includes 20 books, each with between 16 and 44 pages.

Level 2
Kit includes Reproducible Book with Teacher Instructions and 348 Activity Sheets, 10 Pre/Posttest Strips, 100 Mastery Tests, Tachistoscope, 10 Books (each with 50 pages), and 50 Student Record Forms, all in a sturdy box.
Additional books set includes 10 books, each with 50 pages.
