Product Description
Innovative oral motor device provides a resilient, non-food, chewable surface for developing and practicing biting and chewing skills. Designed to develop jaw motion for biting and chewing skills.
“T" shape design of the chewy tube allows students to easily hold it, and keeps them from pushing the tube too far back in the mouth to cause gagging. The hollow center provides lots of opportunity for jaw movement and oral motor feedback.
Safe and non-toxic. Made of FDA approved thermo-elastic polymer material. Contain no lead, PVC, or phthalates. Not made with natural rubber latex. Not recommended for use with children under 7 months of age. Use with supervision.Red is smooth with a slightly wider stem size of 1/2" outside diameter. Often used for practicing biting and chewing skills.
Yellow is smooth and used used with a smaller jaw, typically infants and children up to 2 years old, individuals who cannot open the jaw very wide or are orally defensive. Hollow, narrow stem of 3/8" outside diameter
Green Knobby Tube offers increased sensory input from the raised bumps along the bitable stem. It provides a slightly firmer bitable surface and 9/16" stem.
Blue is the largest and firmest, offering greatest resistance for those with stronger mouthing muscles.5/8" outside diameter stem.

Product Use
Product Use/Directions | How size difference applies to function: The yellow Chewy Tube is used with a smaller jaw, typically an infant (7-10 months) or a young child, or it is used with an individual who cannot open his/her jaw very wide due to clonus. Additionally, the narrower, yellow Chewy Tube is typically used initially in treatment with children who are very defensive about oral tactile stimulation. The red Chewy Tube is used with toddlers and older children who are status-post oral surgery. How Chewy Tubes are used: There are two parts to a Chewy Tube: the T-shaped handle and the long bitable stem. The long stem of the Chewy Tube is placed laterally in the mouth, so the patient can bite down on the bitable stem with the molar dentition or gum ridge. The handle portion has corrugated ridges to assist the grasp, especially for patients who are visually impaired. Chewy Tubes are not intended to be bitten on using the front dentition. Chewy Tubes should always be used with supervision. Assessment of the jaw is recommended prior to biting on Chewy Tubes. Patients should follow the recommendations of their therapist or caregiver when using Chewy Tubes. NOTE: Chewy Tubes are not recommended for use with children under 7 months of age. |
