DCAS Diabetes Training Courses

Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Course: A 12- lesson course Intended for school nurses (APNs, RNs, LVNs, LPNs) who wish to obtain CNE credit (6 credit hours awarded) while learning about managing students with diabetes, legal issues, new device technologies, and much more! One license per campus. Access to the online course expires on June 30th of the following year of purchase.

Diabetes Training for Non-Medical Personnel: This course is approximately 3-4 hours and is intended for non-medical staff who require comprehensive diabetes training to assist or augment the school nurse with a student’s diabetes related care tasks during the school day. (TX customers will be provided with the TX UDCA Training Course). All staff members will complete a pre and posttest to demonstrate learning and will receive a completion certificate that can be downloaded. Access to the online course expires on June 30th of the following year of purchase.

Diabetes Awareness Training: This course is approximately 30 minutes and is intended for general staff: bus drivers, classroom teachers, coaches, chaperones, etc. who may have a student with diabetes under their care from time to time and simply need to learn how to recognize and respond to a potential diabetes related emergency. All staff members will receive a completion certificate that can be downloaded for filing in their personnel record. Access to the online course expires on June 30th of the following year of purchase.

Insulin Pump Therapy: This course is approximately 90 minutes and is intended for any school staff member who may have a student who utilizes an insulin pump while under their care. The course will review the basic operation (loading insulin, placing infusion sets, and delivering boluses) as well as alerts and alarm troubleshooting of the most common insulin pumps on the U.S. market. All staff members will receive a completion certificate that can be downloaded. Access to the online course expires on June 30th of the following year of purchase.

Emergency Glucagon Administration: This course is approximately 35 minutes and is intended for any school staff member who may be called upon to administer emergency glucagon. Skills videos within the course make it easy for school staff to learn to operate the various emergency glucagon devices and kits on the market. All staff members will receive a completion certificate that can be downloaded. Access to the online course expires on June 30th of the following year of purchase.

3-Course Bundle: This 3-course bundle includes the following courses: Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Course, Diabetes Training for Non-Medical Personnel and Diabetes Awareness Training. This allows you to efficiently provide 6 credit hours of CNE to your nursing staff, train non-medical personnel to augment the school nurse with diabetes related care tasks and provide diabetes awareness training to as many general school staff as desired. Upon purchase you will be emailed Quick Start Guides (instructions) that direct staff how to access and complete their respective training course.
