Technical | Feverscan thermometers are to be used on the forehead area only and estimate the core body temperature by measuring the temperature of the forehead. It is an ideal way to check for changes in temperature. A Feverscan Forehead Thermometer is not as accurate for determining the actual core body temperature as a clinical (oral / rectal) thermometer. Instead it is designed to be an unbreakable, quick reading device for temperature screening between uses of a clinical thermometer. Forehead skin temperatures are lower than oral temperatures. Accurate to 1°F / 0.6°C, the readings on a Feverscan Forehead Thermometer have been adjusted to approximate the difference between forehead and oral temperatures during normal to feverish conditions. Feverscan Forehead Thermometer products indicate an approximate oral temperature. If you think that your oral temperature is different from that shown by a Feverscan Forehead Thermometer, you should check by using a clinical thermometer. If fever is present, consult your physician for appropriate treatment. |
