Letter Treasure Hunt

Set sail for a treasure hunt for letters and words from the Alphabet Islands. Students practice handwriting skills by writing letter and word treasures in their Captain's Log as they sail a ship from island to island. Includes gross motor activities that are the underlying components for successful handwriting skills. The player performs activity the activity before landing on an island.

How to play: Put together 4 large puzzle pieces to make the board game. Shuffle the Captain's Orders cards (exercises to develop underlying components for successful handwriting skills) and place them next to the board. Students pick a ship and dock it by the Mainland on the game board. Then spin the spinner to select a letter and sail their ship to it. Draw a Captain's Order card and perform the exercise, as the Captain wants his crew members in tip-top shape. Student "collects" their treasure by writing the letter in their Captain's log (a laminated sheet). Continue spinning and move from island to island. The treasure word can also be written in the Log.

Game has many variations for great fun each time. The game can be as long or short as you want. Instructions include game alternatives, ideas for multisensory tools for handwriting, educator notes, and more. For 1 to 4 players. Ages 5 years and up.
