Practical Ideas That Really Work for Students with ADHD has two age-appropriate versions. One is designed for students in preschool through to grade 4 the other is suitable for grades 5 through 12.

The materials include two components:

1. A book of practical ideas, containing suggestions for interventions, explanations of strategies, reproducible forms, and helpful examples.
2. An easy to use evaluation form to rate a student's behaviors that interfere with student learning and a matrix to select appropriate interventions.

The rating scale contains 54 items measuring three areas: inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, and is linked directly to the planning matrix, providing a selection of several appropriate interventions. Reliability coefficients range from .96 to .97. The scale also differentiates between students with ADHD and students without ADHD. Students with ADHD rated significantly higher on the scale than other students.
