Product Use/Directions Helpful Hints for Testing Pediatrics
  • Thumb should be used on smaller children, followed by ring and then middle finger of non dominant hand.
  • Utilize gauge on the side of pediatric sensor for nail bed alignment.
  • Gently squeeze the sensor to help seat the emitter on the nail bed.
  • Keep sensor cable as straight as possible, running it up the back of the hand and lower arm.
  • Participant should be seated, not moving or talking.
  • It is helpful when children sit in adults lap.
  • For very young/small children it is helpful to have adult place the child's hand between both of theirs during testing.
  • Pick a finger with PI of 1.0 or greater, if not, warm site by gently rubbing for 30 seconds.
