The Zone™ Bucket Ball Slam

Gameplay:

1. Place the buckets in a large circle or rectangle, evenly spaced with enough room for students to move around the center.
2. Set a starting line 10’ away.
3. Divide students into six color-coded teams and line up behind the starting line.
4. On the signal, the first player from each team runs to their color bucket and pauses.
5. The instructor tosses the handball into the center. Players at the bucket are now free to try and retrieve the balls.
6. Once a player retrieves the ball, all players must pause, and the ball holder must attempt to toss the ball into their color bucket.
7. If the shot is made, a point is scored, and the play is reset with six new players.
8. If the shot is missed, the ball is still in play, but the player that missed the shot must go back to the line and is replaced with a new team member.

Rule Variations:

1. Allow all students to play at the same time, working in teams. Spread out the buckets to allow more room for play in the center.
2. Allow students to stay in motion rather than pausing.
3. Allow blocking.
4. Add more buckets and/or balls to increase scoring opportunities.
5. Add a set amount of time for scoring rather than a set amount of points.
