Make interactive learning accessible to all individuals
TAPit +provides a touch accessible interactive learning platform that enables students and children of varying abilities to reach new goals in their lives. Serving a wide range of student’s special needs, TAPit provides multiple modes of learning to accommodate tactile, visual, and auditory learners, and more. The customizable design allows students to focus on what matters most – their education. (See the Product Use tab for details on benefits for various abilities)
Interactive learning keeps students engaged
TAPit offers the first interactive display specifically designed to minimize barriers and maximize flexibility for individuals with special needs, providing full access to the screen for almost any user! Students can operate the screen using a finger, assistive device, or reach stick. Larger icons help students select the correct target to make their choice.
Providing an optimal interface for teaching students with differing abilities at their own pace, the TAPit platform reinforces skills that can be transferred to other computer-based learning applications utilizing the internet, educational software, or communication devices.
Multi-Touch Technology
Intuitive touch interface allows multiple students to simultaneously access a wealth of activities, tools, and resources. Supporting simultaneous touch points allows students to work together (or individually), collaborating, and moving towards accomplishing a common goal. It also allows the teacher and student to work together more closely to enhance learning and understanding. The entire screen surface is a collaborative workspace. No separate multi-user mode setting required.
Palm Rejection - "intended touch"
The touch screen is able to "reject" or ignore touch that is not meant to be interactive. The interface recognizes the difference between a hand or arm resting upon the screen and a finger or assistive device intentionally "tapping" or selecting an image.
Accessible to students or adults with significant physical or learning challenges
The TAPit platform is within reach for students or adults using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility devices, providing full access to the screen with easy height and angle adjustments that adapt to individualized needs. Worries about navigation are eliminated as users can maneuver up to the workstation and have full reach capabilities. 43" screen provides the potential to reach all four corners without the need for additional instruments.
Motorized adjustments provide easy accommodations
Everyone can benefit from the various heights the TAPit reaches. Fully motorized height and tilt adjustment allow the workstation to be customized to the needs of a specific user or group of users. The tilt adjustment accommodates users who cannot access a wall-mounted interactive white board.
Raise the TAPit platform screen up to a height of 54" or lower it to within 7-1/2" from the floor with the touch of a button. The 43" interactive, touch-sensitive LCD panel can be tilted from 0 - 90 degrees. This flexibility makes the TAPit platform infinitely more accessible to physically challenged students and their instructors than stationary, wall-mounted boards. The control panel is respositionable. Velcro© backing allows placing the controls where convenient or suitable for the environment, and out of reach of students if needed.
Easily move the TAPit platform where you need it
Mobility is essential for educators who may use the TAPit platform in multiple environments, from the classroom to therapy settings. No need to wait for a room to be available; roll TAPit to any available room. The TAPit platform easily fits through standard doors. Large 5" anti-mar casters roll easily over most surfaces (including carpet). Commercial locking casters keep the workstation stable.
The TAPit platform has been independently tested for safety and durability
Resistant to dust, grit, grime and other contaminants, the commercial grade LCD panel is made of shatter-resistant safety glass. The field-tested platform is counter-balanced, so even if a student or adult leans full body weight against it, the TAPit platform will not tip.
TAPit is designed under the principles of Universal Design for Learning providing an adaptable workstation that grants access to digital information in multiple ways. It also allows those who need to lean or balance on the workstation to do so without recognizing that unintended touch, allowing them to continue to interact with the screen.
The TAPit platform works with virtually any educational and assistive software programs through your Windows or Mac laptop, allowing freedom and flexibility with lessons. The large, touch-sensitive screen supports the use of on-screen keyboards or voice recognition for typing; switch/scanning for mouse control or cause/effect programs; screen readers for text-to-speech capability; as well as screen magnification programs.

Storage/Care Instructions | CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS for TAPit Ensure the device is unplugged from the main power supply during cleaning. Commercially available LCD cleaning kits may be used to remove fingerprints or debris from the touchscreen, but such cleaners are insufficient for disinfection. Regular cleaning and disinfecting of the TAPit touchscreen ensures that no bacteria or viruses are transmitted during use of the device. If the TAPit is to be used by multiple people, it is recommended that the touchscreen be disinfected between uses. Cleaning and low-level disinfection of the touchscreen can be done using a diluted alcohol solution (50/50 isopropyl and distilled water) or alcohol-based disposable disinfecting wipes such as CaviWipes(tm). Use a soft cotton or micro-fiber cloth to avoid scratching the screen. Do not spray directly onto the touch screen, but spray first on a cloth, then wipe down the touch screen. Clean with an LCD glass cleaner afterwards. This helps remove any residue from the cleaners. WARNING: DO NOT saturate or immerse the device when cleaning. Wipe any excess liquid from the device immediately. |

Testimonials | We have found the TAPit technology very helpful when providing instruction for our very disabled students. The greatest gain is how motivated students are to interact with the system. Every student using the technology gets excited when it is their turn. The kids enjoy the high quality graphics. They love that they can be more independent as they access different activities. We see students navigating their way with more independence than they have ever had before. Overall, we are very pleased with our experience with the equipment, and would recommend it to others.
